Observation of the Er3+ GAMMA8 groundstate ESR-resonance in YAl2 single crystals

Description
It is shown that the groundstate of Er3+ in YAl2 is a GAMMA8. The experiments were performed for a concentration of approx. 1000 ppm. The crystal field parameters yields x = + 0.23
