Reactor lattice spacer
Description
A number of upper and lower spacer frames are provided for surrounding the outer diameter of a fuel assembly. Wires are cross-wise stretched over the spacer frame through a spacer band so as to form a lattice adapted to elastically hold fuel rod each individually inserted into the lattice through X-shaped spacers to be spaced and separated thereby. A recess is cut into the center of each end of the spacer for receiving the lattice wires. The wires of the upper and lower spacer frames are fitted into the associated recesses to hold both of the spacer. This assures that the fuel rods can be held without welding or rigidly joining the fuel rods with the spacers, and prevents the wire lattices from destruction due to deformation and shock. In addition, the assembling and disassembly of this spacer structure can be readily accomplished. (Ohno, Y.)
