Neutrino Scattering on the Nucleon and Determining Parton Distribution Functions

  • 1. Department of Physics, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Oookayama 2-12-1, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, 152-8551 (Japan)

Description

Nucleon structure has been investigated using deep inelastic lepton scattering for more than 30 years. Precise measurements of the spin averaged structure functions using unpolarized DIS help understanding of the nucleon structure in the frame work of QCD inspired quark parton model. Recent experimental developments on the polarized nucleon target have shed light on 'Spin Puzzle'. Present understanding of the nucleon structure based on the charged lepton DIS scattering experiments and future prospects with the neutrino factory are addressed
