Description
Plutonium-contaminated combustible wastes generated in the mixed oxide (MOX) fuel facilities have been incinerated for volume reduction and immobilizated in the plutonium contaminated waste treatment facility (PWTF) since late 1987. This paper discusses how the resulting incinerated ash, acid digested residues and oxide slags are melted to be a ceramics-like block in the canister made of the stainless steel by powering microwave. Characterization is also carried out with these products
