High energy neutrino-nucleon interactions with an electron in the final state

Description

The author observed 290 (75) nu-N interactions with an e-(e+) but no muon in the final state. He studied the properties of 274 nu/sub e/ and 57 anti-nu/sub e-/-induced charged current (CC) events. A comparison was also made with the 7737 nu/sub μ/ and 1183 anti-nu/sub μ/ CC events obtained under identical experimental conditions. For the remaining e+- events, there are 12 μ+-e- and 16 μ-e+ events in which the leading muon was not identified by the External Muon Identifier (EMI). The author also found 3(2) e-(e+) events that are consistent with charm production by neutral current (NC). He observed 1 K/sub s/0 and 1 Λ0 in these 5 NC charm candidates. The relative rates for these NC charm productions were measured
