Self-Diffusion of Cobalt and Zinc in Granular Particles of Titanium (IV) Antimonate as a Cation Exchanger

  • 1. Hot Labs Center, Atomic Energy Authority, P.O. box 13759 Cairo, (Egypt)

Description

The kinetics and mechanism of diffusion of Co2+ and Zn2+ in the H+form of titanium (IV) antimonate (TiSb) have been studied as a function of particle size, reaction temperature the solution concentration of the exchanging ions. The exchange rate was controlled by particle diffusion mechanism as a limited batch technique. The physical thermodynamic parameters such as, activation energy and entropy of activation have been evaluated. The mobility of these ions inside the particles of the exchanger was found Zn2+>Co2+
