Description

The character of the diffusion of hydrogen in Armco iron was studied on the interval of temperatures between 0 and 300 deg C, and the relationship between the permeability to hydrogen and the effect of tensile stresses upon the diffusion of hydrogen in iron were determined. It was concluded that the elastic tensile stresses enhance the concentration of hydrogen not on the outside surface of metal, but also on some of the internal surfaces, such as metal-pore and metal-nonmetallic inclusions or carbides' interfaces and boundaries of grains
