Description

Three-body Faddeev calculations on the nucleon-deuteron scattering and on the deuteron-alpha scattering are reported. In the nucleon-deuteron scattering, both phenomenological potentials and the PEST (BEST) potentials, which are separable representations of the Paris (Bonn) potential, are used. No phenomenological potential can survive after careful test with recent nucleon-deuteron scattering experiments. The PEST potential gives a reasonable description for the polarization transfer at low energy. A possible method to apply the Faddeev theory to quasi-three-body systems is suggested. As an example, absorptive two-body interactions are used to analyze the deuteron-alpha scattering. (author)
