Intravenous digital subtraction angiography (DSA) of the cerebrovascular system

Description

Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) with intravenous injection was performed on 225 patients and evaluated for its diagnostic value of the cerebral diseases. Patients were composed of 192 ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, 5 cerebral aneurysms, 5 arteriovenous malformations, 6 moyamoya diseases, 3 brain tumors and 14 misceraneous stenosis and extra- and intracranial main cerebral arterial occlusion could be correctly interpreted. But intracranial arterial stenotic lesions were frequently misinterpreted. Arteriovenous malformations could be diagnosed easily. On the other hand, it was very hard to visualize the ruptured aneurysms. It was used for postoperative evaluations of arteriovenous malformation, STAMCA anastomosis and thrombendarterectomy. In our experiences, DSA is a valuable tool in the investigation of patients with cerebrovascular diseases. (author)
