Superconducting solenoids with a compound winding

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

To study the possibilities of improving the critical characteristics of superconducting magnetic systems made of the multicore twisted cable of NT-50 alloys, monolithic solenoids have been prepared and tested. The interlauer insulation has been the glass cloth impregnated with the BT-200 glue (SKTP-1 compound) with total thickness 0.35-0.4 mm. The monolithic solenoids have been subjected to the training effect. The number of training passages of solenoids into the normal state is strongly dependent on the solenoid size. With increase of the size the number of passages to attain the critical current increases. The monolithic solenoids, especially those made from cables comparatively uniform electric resistance, possess higher critical characteristics
