Ordinance concerning the nuclear safety officer and the notification of nuclear incidents and other occurrences (Nuclear Safety Officer and Notification Ordinance - AtSMV)

The ordinance applies to facilities as defined in Paragraph 7, sub-sec. 1 of the Atomic Energy Act. Operators of such facilities are obliged to appoint a nuclear safety officer as from start-up of the plant through the whole operating life until plant decommissioning. If there are several facilities run by an operator at one site, one safety officer may be appointed for all facilities. The operator is obliged to report without delay to the supervising authority the appointment of the safety officer, indicating his occupational status, and to give notice in writing of any change in occupational status, or leave, of the safety officer. Paragraph 7, sub-sec. 1 or sub-sec. 3, sentence 1 Atomic Energy Act further obliges the operator to report accidents, incidents, or other occurrences affacting the nuclear safety to the supervising authority.
