Gaseous evvironment effect on superconducting properties of Ba2Cu3O7-x ceramics irradiated by gamma-quanta

Description
Irradiation effects in various gaseous environment (air, argon, oxygen) on electrophysical caracteristics of YBa2Cu3O7-x ceramics is investigated. It is established that irradiation in air leads to quick degradation of a superconductor with superconductivity loss at dose rate higher than 20 MGy; irradiation in argon and in oxygen affects the material properties weakly in comparison with irradiation in air. It is supposed that the main mechanism of degradation is radiation chemical interaction of matrix with nitrogen oxides
