Basis for clinical topometry in oncology

A systematized presentation of main principles and methods of complex clinical topometry, developed in the All-Union Oncologic Research Centre (USSR Acatemy of Medical Sciences) is presented. Means and techniques for measuring linear dimensions, volume and area of tumor according to X-ray and ultrasomic images are described. Methodological peculiarities of combination of non-ionized and ionized techniques for topometry in oncologic patients befoe and after drug and/or radiotherapy are considered. Original methods of scale transformation of general and tomographic images and those of drawing topometric charts are outlined. A comprative analysis of future approaches and prospects of development of clinical topometry a oncology is presented
