Lattice parameters and magnetic properties of the Cd/sub x/Zn/sub y/Mn/sub z/Se alloy system
- 1. Ottawa Univ., Ontario (Canada). Dept. of Physics
Description
A study is made on polycrystalline samples of the pseudoternary alloy system Cd/sub x/Zn/sub y/Mn/sub z/Se. Lattice parameter values are measured and the limits of single phase behavior determined. Two single phase fields are found to exist for Mn concentrations with z < 0.5, one with hexagonal wurtzite structure and the other cubic zinc blende. Low field magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements are made as a function of temperature on the single phase samples. Values of the spin-glass transition temperature T/sub g/, the Curie-Weiss temperature theta, and the Curie constant C are obtained from the susceptibility results. The curves of ESR linewitdh ΔH versus temperature are fitted to a semi empirical equation used to describe the physical behavior of the cluster glass materials. The variation of the obtained parameters with alloy composition is discussed. (author)
