Description

The hydrogen (deuterium) trapping of graphite exposed to the glow discharge was examined with pressure monitoring, and Raman and SIMS analyses. The exposure to the hydrogen (deuterium) glow discharge causes the refining of microcrystallite and the 'partial' amorphous formation in a surface region with the saturation of hydrogen. The saturation layer with implanted deuterium in the graphite is about 100A to the surface. The chemical trapping of deuterium due to the in terms of the ion impact desorption mechanism. The hydrocarbon formation due to the glow discharge was also described. (author). 10 refs.; 10 figs
