A numerical prediction on pressure drop characteristics in a fuel bundle of an accelerator driven system

  • 1. Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Tokai, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

The experimental analysis of the pressure loss measurement experiment using water was performed by using ACE-3D in order to evaluate the prediction accuracy of turbulent flow in the ADS fuel assembly including the grid spacer. As a result, it was clarified that the velocity distribution in the upper region of the grid spacer varies after shorter distance from the top of the grid spacer with increase of Reynolds number, and that the pressure loss in the region including the grid spacer can be estimated with 17% difference error.
