Development of well logging neutron tube with diameter 22 mm

  • 1. Institute of Electronic Engineering, CAEP, Mianyang (China)

Description

The structure design and performance of well logging neutron tube with diameter 22 mm are introduced. The ion source of neutron tube is penning ion source, the alnico is placed in the elicitation cathode which make the ion densely and concentration in elicitation hole. The single electrode is used in ion optics and the resistor is used in target electrode, which increase the stably performances of neutron tube. The discharge current is over 200 microampere when pressure is 10-2 Pa in ion source and the neutron output is over l.5 × lO8 neutron per second. The well logging neutron tube has good characteristics, such as small volume, enduring high temperature, high neutron yield etc. The development neutron tube can be used in well logging in oil field.
