Design parameters of the JINR model superconducting synchrotron
Description
The main design parameters of the 1.5-GeV model SPIN synchrotron withia superconducting magnetic system are presented. The synchrotron is intended for obtaining experience in constructing and operation of superconducting accelerators. The problems are discussed:of superconducting magnets manufacturing and results of measuring the magnetic field parameters of ready magnets and quadrupole lenses at room temperature and liquid helium temperature. The structure of the spin magnetic system comprises two superperi ds, each of them contains 12 regular periods and one rectitinear gap. The regular period contains two 42 cm dipole mamonets, two 15 cm quadrupole lenses and four 9 cm rectilinear gaps. A pulse electrostatic accelerator with 0.75 MV acceleratjng potential serves as a SPIN injector. Manufacturing 110 magneas consumed about 3t of transformer steel and 150 kg of superconducting material
