Yttrium introduction into weld metal for improving its resistance against hot cracks formation in welding stable-austenitic steel
- 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Ehlektrosvarki
Description
Technique for weld metal alloyage by yttrium is described. Influence of yttrium additions on weld metal resistance to hot cracks formation is estimated. Results of fractographic, X-ray and metallographic investigations, on the base of which conclusion about yttrium application expediency as alloying addition to weld metal at 12Ch23N18 steel welding is made, are presented. It is shown, that yttrium introduction into weld metal at 12Ch23N18 steel welding improves its resistance to cracks formation. Yttrium binds sulfur and phosphorus in refractory compounds and this purifying weld metal, improving its technological strength
