Transversity of massless relativistic membrane
Description
Relativistic theory of an open two-dimensional surfaces, which is characterized by an action proportional to the volume swept out by the surface is considered. It is shown that only D-3 transverse degrees of freedom are independent (D is the space-time dimension) and that the boundary of the surface moves with velocity of light
