Description

Solvent extraction of ruthenium (3) in the form of (RuCOCl5)2- from hydrochloric acid solution by tri-n-octylamine (TOA) is studied. It is ascertained that metal extraction into organic phase increases with aqueous phase acidity decrease and in the series of diluents: chloroform < hexane + i-C5H11OH < CCl4 < n-xylol < hexane. Using different investigation methods, including ESR spectroscopy, the chemism of (RuCOCl5)2- extraction by hydrochloric TOA is considered and the conclusion is made on the process course according to the mechanism of the second sphere substitution. The complex {(C8H17)NH}2 (RuCOCl5), formed during extraction in the organic phase, is isolated in the individual state
