Solar thermal electric technology
Description
This paper describes the status and outlook of different solar thermal power generation technologies and resources. Technical characteristics of solar thermal systems are discussed. Also treated are environmental impacts and costs of solar thermal generating technology which are expected to be available between now and the year 2020. Some institutional and other barriers are pointed out which might delay the deployment of solar thermal power generating systems. Finally, recommendations of technology development priorities and the need and opportunities for international cooperation is stressed. (author). 25 refs, 2 figs, 8 tabs
