Contact printing in amorphous (Gd,Tb,Dy) -Fe alloy films

  • 1. KDD Research and Development Laboratory, Nakameguro, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, Japan

Description

Some properties of contact printing in amorphous (Gd, Tb,Dy) -Fe alloy films were studied, that is, the amorphous alloy film with the perpendicular easy axis of magnetization was placed in contact with the conventional tape or card and the contact-printed pattern thus obtained was observed by means of the magneto-optical polar Kerr effect. The contact-printed domain pattern had a very high image contrast and was influenced by both the thickness and the saturation field of the amorphous film. The Dy-Fe film had a very low Curie temperature and thus could be used for contact printing by means of the thermal transfer as in the case of CrO2 tape
