Nanocomposites synthesis of activated carbon-natural zeolite-TiO2

Description

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a photocatalyst that is widely used to degrade organic compounds. To improve the performance of TiO2, a modification is needed. Synthesis of nanocomposite made of Activated Carbon-Natural Zeolite and TiO2 (KAZA-TiO2) has been done. Nano-titania on KAZA-TiO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by sol gel method using titanium tetraisopropoxide as a precursor. Characterization of nanocomposite was conducted by BET, XRD, and SEM-EDX. Performance of KAZA-TiO2 nanocomposite was tested using a solution of 4,4'-dichloro biphenyl in water with an initial concentration of 10 ppm with UV light as a photon source. The decline in the concentration of 4,4'-dichloro biphenyl of 87% obtained from the use of KAZA-TiO2 nanocomposite with initial ratio of 2:1:7 and a reaction time of 270 minutes. (author)
