Zirconium titanate formation in oxide fibers

Description

Mechanism of zirconium titanate formation in oxide fibres, including the processes of polymer matrix thermolysis, zirconium and titanium salt dissociation, nuclei formation in metal oxides and their growth, structural transformations of oxides and formation of ZrTiO4 fibres at the temperature of 1150-1200 deg C, is studied. Decomposition of zirconium titanate long fibres into fragments, accompanied by ZrTiO4 partial decay into metal oxides, which with increase in temperature up to 1500 deg C once again react with each other and form zirconium titanate with rigid frame macrostructure.3 refs., 3 figs
