Description

The results obtained with a computer program which calculates the magnetic fields are forces in the Tokamak de Varennes are described. We consider all scenarios arising during the various machine operation modes by treating them as steady state. All transient phenomena are neglected and all materials are assumed to be magnetic. The model of the coils and algorithm used in the code, based on direct integration of the Biot-Savart law, are presented. The classification of all the scenarios considered is discussed. The toroidal magnetic field and its spatial variation is given. The interactions of the two coils sets, toroidal and poloidal, with themselves and with each other lead to four different types of loads which are described in detail with examples of numerical results
