Study of sintering conditions and electric properties of materials of the BaZrO3-LaAlO3 system

Description
The sintering conditions and electrical properties of the dielectric ceramics of the system BaZrO3-LaAlO3 on introduction of sintering additives were studied. Refractory clay and lead borosilicate glass were used as sintering additives. An X-ray investigation showed that after firing at 1400 deg C the materials of the system BaZrO3-LaAlO3 are a mechanical mixture of the initial components. It is recommended to introduce 2% refractory clay as sintering additive. The sintered specimens show high dielectric properties. Addition of 10 wt.% low-melting lead borosilicate glass reduces the sintering temperature to 1250 deg C. The thermostable dielectric has a composition of 80 wt.% LaAlO3 and a dielectric constant epsilon=22
