Description
In 2003 Ahlberg Electronics AB delivered the patent pending 4-face fuel inspection system to Ringhals nuclear power plant. The demand of Ringhals was to implement a radiation tolerant underwater colour CCD camera system for simultaneous on-line inspection of all four faces of fuel assemblies during off load without affecting the critical path. By implementing the 4-face system Ringhals underlined the strive of bringing the overall cost for all related fuel activities down as well as increasing the plant operation safety in doing the outmost in avoiding fuel failures during operation. With a continuous survey of the fuel behaviour from fresh fuel to end of life the 4- face system provides on-line essential information of all unloaded fuel assemblies. (authors)
