Coherent X-ray radiation is emitted from high temperature plasma produced by pumping a lasing medium with a single-pass (or double-pass) travelling wave high power laser. Significant progress in X-ray lasers research and applications has taken place over the last ten years. Presently, efforts with the aim of providing small-scale and relatively low cost X-ray sources with high brightness and coherency are being made
