The comparison of the experimental and theoretical meaning of polarization and asymmetry in a quasifree NN scattering on deuterium nucleus at 640 MeV

Description

The parameter calculations of polarization (P) and asymmetry (A) for protons scattered on deuterium in kinematics, corresponding to recording of free np- and pp-scatterings for the 640 MeV incident protons have been done. The calculations are performed in impulse approximation taking account of rescattering on deuterium nucleons and spin structure of interacting pairs of particles. An attempt has been made of taking into account the deuterium D-state contribution. The calculations habeve shown that in kinematics corresponding to free NN-scattering, the asymmetry and polarization value with account for the deuterium D-state contribution which is equal to 3-7% changes only by 0.1%. For this reason the D-state of the deuterium wave function has not been taken into account in further calculations. It has been pointed out that the calculated absolute values psup(theor.) and Asup(theor.) vary sistematically from the corresponding experimental values by two - three standard errors. The calculation data have shown that the correction to the value (P-A)sub(pn)sup(theor.) depending on the deuterium neutron bond does not exceed the 0.015 value for the angle interval of 0-180 ccm. Thus, basing on the calculations one may state that the substitution of the ''free'' neutron target, bound in deuterium for the purpose of verifying the known ratio P-A at 640 MeV pn-scattering will lead to the systematic error of determining in absolute value this difference by no more than 1-2%
