Instability of a nonlinearly pulsating model stellar system. II

  • 1. Tashkent University

Description

The stability of a nonequilibrium configuration in the form of a nonlinearly pulsating spherical Camm model against surface-type perturbations is investigated. The total dispersion relation obtained for the harmonics m = 1 and 2 coincides with that for the case of an Einstein sphere, while the value of the critical amplitude for barlike perturbations is the same in the two models. In this case, however, instability in the nonequilibrium Camm model will set in if W/sub r/> or =2W/sub perpendicular/, where W/sub r/ and W/sub perpendicular/ are the radial and transverse components of the energy of stellar motion
