Major safety equipment of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant and its electricity supply

The major equipment of the primary and secondary coolant circuits and the electricity supply systems of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant are presented. According to the nuclear safety philosophy of the plant the sudden break of the main coolant pipe in the primary circuit is regarded as the maximum credible accident. The reactor protection systems contain passive and active high and low pressure core cooling systems, passive and active pressure reducing systems, and safety feed water supply systems. The operation principle of the safety electricity supply system based on electric batteries and diesel generators is discussed. (V.N.)
