Electrolysis of radioactive substances at a mercury cathode

Description
The kinetics of electrolytic deposition of radioactive substances (64Cu, 212Pb, 65Zn) on a mercury cathode was investigated as a function of the electrode potential. It was found that for each potential an equilibrium state is reached between the radioactive substance deposited on the mercury cathode and left in the solution. The critical deposition potential was determined from the potential dependence of the amount deposited in the equilibrium state. (author)
