Dosimetry in TOE's of the medical institutes of the San Francisco Xavier University of Chuquisaca

Description

The present work, continuation of the one presented in the IRPA 2015, makes a sequential, comparative and retrospective analysis of the record of readings, of the dosimetric control processed by the Dosimetry Laboratory of the Bolivian Institute of Science and Nuclear Technology, as a regulating entity at a national level for those selected as Occupationally Exposed Workers to ionizing radiations -TOE's‖, from the Medical Institutes of the Universidad Mayor, Real and Pontifical University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca. The study runs over a period of 3.5 years. The results show that in the Institute of Nuclear Medicine, the Accumulated Occupational Exposure of a total of 98 readings corresponding to 7 TOEs, the highest accumulated reading is 0.9 mSv, corresponding to the official who develops the activity of Radiopharmacy ( Tc-99m) in the Gamma Cameras unit. In the Institute of Cancerology the dosimetric record shows a total of 260 samples, of 19 employees, a maximum Accumulated Occupational Exposure of 7.6 mSv, corresponding to a worker in the area of Nursing in the area of Brachytherapy (Cs-137). The works record that the maximum cumulative dose in Nuclear Medicine corresponds to the official of the same work activity (Radiopharmacy) but its pending change from 0.02 mSv / year (first 15 years) to 0.26 mSv / year (seconds 3.5 years) and in Cancerology, change of the worker from the Technical area to Nursing and from a slope of 0.41 mSv / year (first 10 years) to 2.17 mSv / year (seconds 3.5 years). Aspect mainly associated with the different radionuclides used. (author)
