Unlike most other textbooks on radiology, this one is based on X-ray findings rather than diseases as a system of reference. As many disorders have diverse radiographic appearances, it is quite unavoidable that they are given repeated coverage in the text. In order to keep such repetitions to a minimum, X-ray findings and appropriate differential diagnoses were as far as possible represented in table form. The radiographic signs discussed are shown in the X-ray pictures and drawings provided. The book is divided into three chapters so that the bones, thorax and abdomen are dealt with separately. The second edition offers advantages in that the role of more recently developed methods of imaging like sonography, CT and MRT in the further course of the diagnostic procedure is examined in greater detail. Broader coverage was also given of a number of diseases of childhood and adolescence as well as of AIDS. (orig./HW)
