Development of refractory metals and alloys

  • 1. Materials Group, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

This presentation attempts to focus on extensive work carried out in the direction of development of refractory metals and their alloys. The capability to prepare Nb metal of RRR at least 300 is highlighted. A novel approach, having capability to prepare various refractory metal alloys of various compositions will be presented. Oxidation resistance issue of the refractory metal and alloys has been addressed by formation of aluminide, silicide, and alumino-silicide coatings by developing halide activated pack cementation technique
