Photoluminescence of iodine solutions

Description
Photoluminescence spectra of Iodine solutions (polar and nonpolar solvents) were recorded using two-laser wavelengths 532 and 435 nm. It was found that the fluorescence efficiency depends on the nature of the solvent polarisability as: I2+ BromoBenzen> I2+Toluene> I2+ Benzene> I2+CCl4 ∼ I2+Hexane. The extinction coefficient increased from (10-5-100) to (100-103) due to partially removing of the selection rules of the forbidden electronic transition of the iodine solution (Spin-forbidden).
