High-resolution study of proton resonances in 31P, 35Cl, and 93Tc
Description
Differential cross sections were measured for 30Si(p,p) from 1.08 to 3.00 MeV and 34S(p,p) from 1.46 to 2.82 MeV at laboratory angles of 1600, 1350, 1050, and 900 The differential cross section for 92Mo(p,p) was measured from 5.13 to 5.43 MeV at 1600, 1250, and 900. The resonances observed in the excitation functions were analyzed in terms of the parameters of the R-matrix theory. Resonance energies, spins, parities, and proton widths were extracted for 62 resonances in 31P, 59 resonances in 35Cl, and 125 resonances in 93Tc. The analogs of the 2.317- and 3.133-MeV states in 31Si were positively identified and the analog of the 2.790-MeV state was tentatively identified. The analog of the 2.348-MeV state in 35S was positively identified, and the analogs of the 2.718, 2.939, and 3.421 states were tentatively identified. The highly fragmented analog of the first excited state in 93Mo was studied. Coulomb energies for each of the analog states were determined. Spectroscopic factors were determined for each of the observed analog states. A fit to the theoretical fine-structure distribution was obtained for the highly fragmented s-wave analog state in 93Tc, and the fine-structure parameters were extracted. Seven very large 3/2- states were observed in 31P. The proton widths obtained in these experiments were combined with capture data in order to extract gamma-ray widths for resonances in 31P and 35Cl. The proton strength functions for each spin and parity observed were determined for each isotope studied. The qualitative features of the proton strength functions from A = 30 to A = 64 were discussed. (Diss. Abstr. Int., B)
