Hanford: Nuclear waste in the USA

Description

The USA must pay billions of dollars for removal and safe storage of the radioactive waste from their nuclear weapons factories. However, at Hanford - a plant with particularly high contamination levels - nobody knows how long it will take to do this or whether it is possible at all. (orig.)

Die Vereinigten Staaten muessen Milliarden Dollar aufwenden, um den radioaktiven Abfall ihrer Atomwaffenfabriken zu bergen und sicherer zu lagern. Doch in Hanford - einer besonders kontaminierten Anlage - weiss noch niemand, wie lange diese Herkulesarbeit dauern wird und ob sie sich ueberhaupt bewaeltigen laesst. (orig.)
