Description

We report the results of a Monte Carlo study of finite-temperature pure SU(3) gauge theory performed on the parallel computer QCDPAX. The deconfining transition is studied on 122x24x4, 242x36x4, 243x6, and 362x48x6 lattices with 480 000--1 112 000 iterations. A clear two-phase structure is observed on spatially large (242x36x4 and 362x48x6) lattices and the gaps of physical quantities at the transition are calculated on these lattices. The latent heat thus obtained on the Nt=6 (362x48x6) lattice is much smaller than the one previously obtained
