This report was review standard for human factors engineering design of main control room of nuclear power plants, which summarized technical requirements for modification and refurbishment of main control room, based on review standard for new installation. Reflecting the world's trend of technical specifications of main control room required from the results of human factor research and human system interface (HSI) development, specific technical requirements were described as almost following the design process used in human factors engineering and performance based and function required so as to conform rapid technical development of HSI. Modification and refurbishment of main control room should be planned so as to reduce workload of reactor operators and update operating procedures reflecting change of plant system, components and HSI. Explanatory notes were also attached for respective requirements. (T. Tanaka)
