Excitation of surface oscillations of radioactive liquid drops

Description

The possibility of determining the characteristics of radioactive decay of substances by means of registering the correlation function of light scattered in the near-surface area of liquid droplet containing a decaying radioactive sub bstance is discussed. An espression is obtained for evaluating the amplitude of the droplet form oscillations when fission fragment escape from it. It is shown that during registrating the correlation function light scattered on the droplet form oscillations one can determine the frequency and time of the oscillation damping and therefore the droplet geometrical dimensions and physical parameter of a substance as well as the characteristics of the radioactive decay (mean fragment momentum, unstaxle atom content). It is concludedd that the considered method can be used for a contactless determiation and control of the solution activity
