Maintaining regulatory momentum and excellence in the nuclear sector
Description
This presentation outlines the current activities of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). CNSC has many nuclear projects either under review or regulatory oversight. These include ongoing CANDU refurbishment, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Darlington Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Project, Global First Power MMR Project and New Brunswick Power SMR Project. CNSC is engaging with provincial governments, applicants, designers and proponents on readiness to regulate forthcoming projects. Finding efficiencies in the regulatory process is critical to timely and safe deployment of nuclear technologies. CNSC is continuing to explore multiple avenues to improve the regulatory process. Relationship building is critical for the success of nuclear projects.
