Description
The exact equation for the loop average in multicolor QCD is reduced to a bootstrap form. Its iterations yield a new manifestly gauge invariant perturbation theory in the loop space, reproducing asymptotic freedom. For large loops, the area law appears to be a self-consistent solution. (orig.)
