Description

The incompressibility modulus, Knm, is an important characteristic of the nuclear matter equation of state and as such enters the discussion of a variety of phenomenon such as supernovae explosions, neutron star structure or heavy ion collisions. Since their discovery giant resonances have attracted much attention because of their fundamental nature. They provide insight into both the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction and other basic properties of nuclei such as shape and incompressibility. It has been recognized that incompressibility determined from the isoscalar giant monopole resonance (GMR) is more precise compared to other methods
