Influence of drift velocity on the stability of boiling two-phase natural circulation

Description

Theoretical investigations were carried out to study the influence of drift velocity on the stability of boiling two-phase natural circulation. The theoretical model considers a four equation drift flux model which solves the linearized conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy applicable to a boiling two-phase natural circulation system. The model was applied to natural circulation loops where instabilities were observed under low and high powers, which are known as Type I and Type II instabilities respectively. The effects of drift velocity on steady state and stability of these systems were investigated. It was found that this parameter stabilizes the flow instability. (author)
