Description

Properties of nuclear emulsions have long been described rather vaguely as 'records protons to about 7 MeV', or 'sensitive to charged particles of all energies'. Frequently the grain-count at minimum ionization has been invoked as a measure of emulsion sensitivity. For quality control in manufacture, as well as for a more general basis for the normalization of experimental data either of two parameters E0 or kappa may be used, from x-ray sensitometry or from grain counting, as based on track theory, for these are equivalent parameters.
