The analysis phase in development of knowledge-based systems

Over the past twenty years computer scientists have realized that, in order to produce reliable software that is easily modifiable, a proven methodology is required. Unlike conventional systems there is little knowledge of the life cycle of these knowledge-based systems. However, if the life cycle of conventional systems, it is not unreasonable to assume that analysis will come first. With respect to the analysis task there is an enormous difference in types of analysis. Conventional systems analysis is predominately concerned with what happens within the system.
