Description
Monitoring of radiocaesium activity concentration in the sediment of two reservoir around the forest catchments in Fukushima were carried out in order to elucidate the behavior of radiocaesium in the reservoir in 2018. The profile pattern of radiocaesium is similar with that of water content in the sediment. The 137Cs activity concentrations in sediment, pore water and overlaying water in Reservoir Y were 5-10 times higher than those in Reservoir S. One of reasons is that Reservoirs Y and S are the closed system and the water exchangeable system, respectively. And then, Kd values of Cs between water and sediment is similar with the previous studies. It is considered that dissolved radiocaesium is desorbed from sediment to water with the ion exchange of cation, as the 137Cs activity concentrations in pore water is 10 times higher than those in overlaying water.
