Rb-Sr open system behaviour and its application as a pathfinder for Sn mineralisation in granites or the Bushveld Complex, South Africa

  • 1. 2125250ZA

Description

Sn and fluorite mineralisation in the Bushveld Complex occur primarily in or near to the upper parts of the granite bodies and much interest has been focused on the detailed mechanisms of location and formation of these ore deposits. In this study two Sn pipes are examined. The pipes, located in the Zaaiplaats Tin Mine, represent conduits for the mineralising hydrothermal fluids and they, and also the rocks close by, should display the various effects of the hydrothermal fluids to a greater degree than the granites on a larger, regional scale. 2 figs., 24 refs
